The Making of Filigree Jewellery
the face behind the Silverlinings
Though born into diverse family backgrounds, Nisha and Ashish belong to the state of Odishs which is the home to this beautiful and exquisite art of Filigree. They always had plans of taking this art national and eventually to international destinations. After working for large corporates after their education at reputed institutions, they started pursuing their calling and thus began the journey of Silverlinings. Realising that this age-old art is one of the dying arts of India and will soon face extinction, their primary objective was to protect and promote this exquisite handicraft. Traditionally, the consumers of this art were not engaged with the artisans and hence somewhere the relevance of designs was getting lost. So on one hand, Silverlinings promotes the conventional Odisha filigree and on the other hand, it connects the contemporary designers to the artisans in order to create more relevant jewellery handmade with this art. Also Silverlinings’ international presence is putting India, especially Cuttack in the world map in this space. After only over 2 years, Silverlinings is rated as one of the finest source for Silver Filigree jewellery and is loved by many across the world.
